A general meeting is a meeting of members of the company. Every Hong Kong limited company is governed by the Companies Ordinance to hold an annual general meeting (AGM) every calendar year, all general meetings other than annual general meetings are called extraordinary general meetings (EGM).
The purpose of an annual general meeting is to ensure that every shareholders of the company have the same opportunity to express their consent or dissent on the decision of the company in a general meeting.
A company's first AGM should be held within 18 months after its incorporation and thereafter at least once in every calendar and each of the AGM must not exceed 15 months.
